Weekly Update

Your Fourthies have had an awesome first week of school. We have worked on getting to know each other and establishing routines and expectations.

I will update this class blog each week with important reminders and curriculum updates. There are helpful links on the side of the page as well as pages with information along the top. One of the pages explains what it means to be a carpool helper. This is a leadership opportunity offered to all Fourthies. Please complete this form so we know who is able to participate and who cannot. We will start carpool helpers the next week and I will contact you directly if your daughter is assigned to next week.

Your daughter's only weekend "homework" is to read the blog with an adult at home and answer the scavenger hunt question at the bottom.

I look forward to seeing you at Parents' Night next Wednesday night, September 4.  This is the schedule for the evening:

  • 5:00-5:20 pm Remarks by Cindy Trask, Head of School; Remarks by Annie Kapetanis, Head of Lower School and Early Childhood
  • 5:30-6:30 pm EL - Grade 1 Classroom Presentations
  • 5:30-6:00 pm Grades 2 - 4 Meet Enrichment teacherss
  • 6:00-7:00 pm Grades 2 - 4 Classroom Presentations
  • 6:30-7:00 pm EL - Grade 1 Meet Enrichment teachers
  • 7:00 pm Evening concludes

Fourthies lead the Pledge of Allegiance each morning to the Lower School and raise the flag for the school and these are both leadership opportunities. We rotate through the girls so everyone will have chances to do these jobs.

I am excited for this year ahead and love this sweet group of girls already. Here are the 2024-2025 Hiscock Fourthies!

First Day Update!

We had an awesome first day of fourth grade! This group was comfortable in the classroom and got down to business! Please ask your daughter about our class compliment system and how many the class earned! They set a new record!!! I am excited for this year ahead.

Today, we organized our supplies, learned how to raise and lower the flag as a grade level, asked and answered lots of questions, and had some fun!

Each Friday, I will post an update on this class blog and this will be my main means of communication. Please check out the links on the side as they provide some helpful information.

Here are a few important tidbits for the coming days:

  • You may send a healthy snack(s) each day for your daughter to have as we work or play. They were hungry today!
  • This Friday is St. Catherine's Spirit Day. We will begin the day with a school-wide chapel on the Green, and later in the day, the entire school will enjoy a fun lunch together on the Green. The girls should wear their school colors, representing the Gold Team or the White Team - but we will not go crazy with tutus and sunglasses quite yet - just colors this Friday. Also, please send a beach towel with your daughter so she will have something to sit on for our picnic. In addition, the school plans to provide pizza for lunch for every student. So, if your daughter usually brings her lunch, you may take the day off of lunch-making!
