Final Update

THANK YOU for a fabulous year!

Yesterday's Final Assembly was lovely, and I am so proud of each and every girl from our class. They grew so much this year physically, emotionally, socially, and academically. The girls are ready to cross the Green but I certainly will miss them! My door is always open, and I look forward to staying in touch. Thank you, families, for all of your support.

I added a page at the top of the blog called "Summer Learning" that includes some summer learning options.

Have an amazing summer, and thank you for everything!

Weekly Update

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I look forward to seeing the girls next week for our last 2.5 days of school! WOW!

They enjoyed their end of year party today, and thank you to Sarah Keeney and Amanda Benson for volunteering from our class.

On Tuesday, we will have our final class compliment celebration. The girls may wear pajamas or dress down. In the afternoon, we will head over to the Saints Shop, where they may pick out a treat. I am giving each girl $2 to spend, and there are many great options.

Weekly Update

It is so hard to believe that today is our last Friday of the school year! I will miss this sweet group of girls!! We are in full project mode until the end of the year, and we are staying busy!

In math, we are still learning decimal concepts such as ordering and comparing decimals while working on the shopping spree project.

In social studies, each student is researching a topic related to the Civil War, and then they will make a mini museum that we will share across the grade level.

To keep all of the memories from this year, the girls are creating a dodecahedron. These will come home and will be great to keep! Ask your daughter to tell you about this project!

If each girl could bring in a reusable bag to start taking items home, that would be great!

Weekly Update

We had a blast at Kings Dominion yesterday! Thank you to all of the chaperones who came! This was a great trip for the girls as they are nearing the end of Lower School!

If any of your daughters are interested in applying for Robotics for 5th grade, please click here for the information. I will also give them time to work on the application next week since they need to use their St. Catherine's email address on the form.

This week, we started several projects we will work on through the end of the year. In addition to working through our decimal lessons, the girls are working on a faux shopping spree trip. Ask them to tell you how much they have to spend! In addition, each student chose a topic from the Civil War to research in greater detail. Once they gather their information, they will make a museum display.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you amazing mothers!

Weekly Update

Wednesday was full of excitement with the visit to the Middle School. The girls returned with lots of thoughts and feelings. As a calm way to share their feedback, we used a site called Mentimeter. On this site, they anonymously typed a response to two questions. Click here to see their reflections.

We have concluded our unit on fractions in math. We will spend the rest of the year studying decimals and reviewing concepts from the whole year.

In social studies, we are finishing our discussion of the Civil War and will end the unit with a research project on a particular aspect of the war.

In reading, we finished Number the Stars, and the girls have been working on writing a chapter about Annemarie and Ellen reuniting after the end of the war. We also read a picture book called The Butterfly by Patricia Polacco. After reading it, we compared and contrasted it to Number the Stars. The girls are creating a Venn Diagram to show how the two stories are similar and different. They are looking great!

With summer rapidly approaching, it can be hard for us all to stay focused. I am encouraging the girls to dig deep and find self-control to talk at the appropriate times and stay on task. Any support you can offer at home is much appreciated!
