Weekly Update

Wednesday was full of excitement with the visit to the Middle School. The girls returned with lots of thoughts and feelings. As a calm way to share their feedback, we used a site called Mentimeter. On this site, they anonymously typed a response to two questions. Click here to see their reflections.

We have concluded our unit on fractions in math. We will spend the rest of the year studying decimals and reviewing concepts from the whole year.

In social studies, we are finishing our discussion of the Civil War and will end the unit with a research project on a particular aspect of the war.

In reading, we finished Number the Stars, and the girls have been working on writing a chapter about Annemarie and Ellen reuniting after the end of the war. We also read a picture book called The Butterfly by Patricia Polacco. After reading it, we compared and contrasted it to Number the Stars. The girls are creating a Venn Diagram to show how the two stories are similar and different. They are looking great!

With summer rapidly approaching, it can be hard for us all to stay focused. I am encouraging the girls to dig deep and find self-control to talk at the appropriate times and stay on task. Any support you can offer at home is much appreciated!
